With the profession of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty and obedience, we sisters consecrate ourselves totally to the love and the glory of God, the following of Christ, the service of the Church and the good of the souls. Thus we proceed more quickly towards supernatural perfection, as well as achieve the full maturation of our human person through purification of our heart, spiritual freedom and the fervor of charity.
Called by God’s grace to the Congregation of the Hospitaler Sisters of Mercy, by the special vow of hospitality, we dedicate ourselves to works of mercy, and above all to the care of the sick. It is this that constitutes our special purpose and our special activity in our homeland as well as in mission lands.
To answer the original charism of the Institute, our life and our activity should be animated by the spirit of charity, particularly for the suffering members of the Mystical Body of Christ. This charity is to be characterized by the humble availability and a habitual attitude of service which is simple, unselfish and generous to the point of self denial and sacrifice, according to the programme set forth in our original legislation: “To be sick with the sick, in order to come to the aid of Jesus suffering in His members.”
